The
surgical team of Prince Sultan Cardiac in Qassim pulled off a successful
implant of artificial valves without the use of surgical sutures. The surgery
was conducted to a 59-year old patient who was suffering from stenosis of the
aorta root, accompanied by stenosis of the aortic valve. The said condition
affected the patient's daily activities and he even became obese.
Upon
further and thorough study of the patient's medical status, the center's
medical team performed the first surgery of its kind in the Qassim region.
The implantation without surgical sutures was a bit risky considering
that it was the center's very first operation of its kind. Thankful to the Almighty
Allah that the surgery was indeed a success. Assured of the patient's stable
condition, he was then discharged from the center and get back to his normal
routines.
Proud
to say, the center is distinguished by its high readiness to perform such qualitative
and accurate heart operations for both adults and children. And PSCCQ is
beyond proud that over the past 10 months, their staff have performed more
than 333 successful open heart surgeries for adults of both sexes.
