PSCCQ'S DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY PERFORMS A SUCCESFUL CATHETERIZATION INTERVENTION TO A 7-MONTH OLD BABY

The Department of Pediatric Cardiology of Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Qassim, performed a successful catheterization intervention to a 7-month old baby. The said baby/patient has suffered from severe blockage of the aortic valve, which wasn't visibly seen in the results during his examination in the clinic. 

When the intervention was carried out, the valve was widened with a balloon, through a catheter. Despite of a very risky and tough operation for the medical team, thanks to the Almighty Allah, the operation was successful. The patient was then transferred to the cardiac care while waiting for his condition to stabilize. After which, ensured of his condition's stability, the patient with his family left the center. 

The management of Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Qassim disclosed that in ten months’ time, the center has performed around 19 cases for children who underwent catheterization procedures.
