The Genetic Heart Clinic of Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Al-Qassim received more than 303 patients since its started.

The center was strongly motivated to provide a clinic for genetic diseases considering the fact that these diseases are among the most important factors that may cause congenital heart anomalies. It was also known that the recurrences of similar cases have highly increased. The greater number of individuals in the family affected the higher the possibility of the occurrence of the genetic injury.

Upon emergence, the genetic clinic was manned with specialized consultants responsible for reviewing and confirming the issues of children with heart anomalies. Thereupon, accurate clinical examinations with some genetic tests are being conducted. After which, the patient’s condition is presented to a genetic counselor. If the needs arise, the patient is transferred to the genetics department for advanced genetic procedural tests. In cases of a mother’s next pregnancy, they are significantly advised to appear at the genetics department for follow-up and other related concerns. For further analysis and explanations, they are also given a drawing or an image of a genetic map. For cardiac diseases of the child and the family, the patient’s family is fully screened. An early detection of the disease requires immediate treatment before the symptoms appear.
