PSCCQ conducts 2nd Intermediate level ECG Interpretation course

The 2nd Intermediate Level ECG  Course was successfully culminated last April 20-21, 2016 at the PSCCQ Conference Room. This 2 –day course were participated in by medical professional. This was objectively aimed to give an elaborated factual and practical knowledge in ECG. This course is accredited by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties for 13 CME Hours.  

 

The activity has marked its start with the registration of the participants who were assembled together in the venue.

 

On the first day of the said event, Dr. Osama Abdulhadi Smettei, Consultant-Adult Cardiology at PSCCQ, stood as the first lecturer who discussed on Vectors and ECG Axis 1 which encloses Physiology of the QRS Axis and Determining the Axis.

 

Lecture about Vectors and ECG Axis 2 which includes the Causes of Axis Deviation and Other Axis Considerations/Anatomical Regions. This was interestingly given by Dr. Mohamed M. Ali Shoman, Specialist-Cardiology, and Adult Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit of PSCCQ.

 

Dr. Yasser Radwan Al Hindawi, the Specialist-Adult Cardiology and Fellow, Saudi Board of Cardiology Fellowship at PSCCQ, was the third speaker who lectured on Atrial Abnormalities including P-wave Axis, Left Atrial Abnormality and Right Atrial Abnormality/Bi-Atrial Abnormality.

 

 

Heading on with the day's activity was another lecture on Hypertrophy which comprised of topics regarding Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Right Ventricular Hypertrophy. It was thoroughly discussed by Dr. Rahim Gul, the Consultant of Interventional Cardiology, Head of Coronary Care Unit and Director of Saudi Board of Cardiology Fellowship at PSCCQ.

 

Dr. Osama Abdulhati Smettei was a returning speaker who shared an ample discussion about Bundle Branch Blocks containing its sub-topics; Right Bundle Branch Blocks, Left Bundle Branch Blocks and other IVCDS.

 

The first day of the said course was ended and wrapped up with a workshop on Intermediate Level ECG Interpretation (Part 1) which was facilitated by Dr. Smettei.

 

The second day of the event was likewise filled with lectures. Dr. Mohamed M. Ali Shoman started the program with his lecture on Hemiblocks consisting of the Introduction to Hemiblocks, Left Anterior Hemiblock, Left Posterior Hemiblock/Septal Hemiblock and Bifascicular Block.

 

 

Continuing the lecture was another speaker in the person of Dr. Hariom Kumar, the Specialist Cardiology at Central Security Hospital. He shared his knowledge on Ischemic Heart Disease containing its sub-topics Coronary Anatomy and Physiology, Coronary Events and the ECG, Ischemic and Myocardial Infarction and More Examples of Ischemia and Infection.

 

 

Dr. Rahim Gul went on with the program by throwing in a lecture about Other ST Abnormalities which contained the Secondary ST Abnormalities, Primary and Non-Specific ST Abnormalities, Pericarditis and Early Repolarization. He continuously stood as a speaker on another lecture regarding Miscellaneous Topics in Electrocardiography including Low Voltage/Lead Reversal, Electrolyte/Metabolic Disturbances and Introduction to Pacemakers.

 

To take a sensible application on the lectures given, the second part of the Workshop on Intermediate Level ECG Interpretation was again facilitated by Dr. Mohamed M. Ali Shoman. The said workshop signifies the final point of the two-day course. It also came out as the end of the activity.
