The QAPAS initiative being practiced
by the doctors and nurses of Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Qassim refers to an
immediate and quick response to acute heart attack patients. The method was
effectively used in saving the lives of five patients in quickly time.
The health champions at the Prince
Sultan Cardiac Center represented by consultant
cardiologist and cardiac catheters, Dr. Rahim Gul and the medical nursing team
in the cardiac catheterization unit for adults has scored an unprecedented
achievement in the speed of response to save the lives of 5 patients who
arrived at the center on Friday morning, June 12, 2020. The patients suffered
from symptoms of acute heart attack and were attended in a standard time period
of not more than four hours and ten minutes. The first case began at six and
ten minutes in the morning and the fifth case ended at ten and twenty minutes
in the morning, an average of only 48 minutes for the case.
The rapid response to patients with acute
heart attack plays a great role in saving the lives of many patients in and
around the Qassim region. The medical and nursing staff of the center was
highly appreciated and commended in their active participation and roles in
this achievement.
It is notably worth to say that the (QAPAS)
initiative is considered as one of the most important innovation in the
development of patients services in Prince Sultan cardiac center. It aims to
reach out to all patients with acute heart attack from all hospitals in the
region and bring them all along to the cardiac catheterization laboratory
within 90 minutes from diagnosis to avoid the occurrence of complications from
heart attack as well as ensure the rapid stability of the situation.
Coordination is being done through a unified hotline number that operates 24
hours a day, connected to the alternate Interventionist, technicians and
nurses, who are in a on call duty to do the necessary work as well as
coordinating to secure a bed to sleep in the center.
The patient on the other hand,
receives utmost care and attention, and will be discharged in a very stable
condition within 48 hours, and must be in good health and wellness. He will
then return for a follow up check-up in the Outpatient clinic of for further assessment.
