The health communities in Al Qassim
region has finally launched a mandate to reduce the waiting period for
admission and transportation procedures of patients diagnosed with acute
heart attacks. The emergency department of all hospitals should take part in
responding to this solution by possibly reducing the time span for immediate
accommodation of patients from 3-4 hours to 10-25 minutes. This is in
accordance to the launching of the initiative "Acute Heart Attack",
QAPAS in all medical institutions in the entire region. This was also
realized through the cooperation and support of Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Qassim.
The said drive which was launched
in two stages aims to reduce and lessen the time; the patients with
acute heart attack should spend in waiting at government and private
hospitals, as well as their transportation and arrival at Prince Sultan Cardiac
Center Qassim in the fastest way possible.
The Health Assembly of Al Qassim
confirmed that this must be accomplished 24 hours a week and it started in
two phases. The first phase extends its target on hospitals far from the
region ranging from 120kms, including 13 government and private hospitals. On
the other hand, the second phase was more focused on all hospitals in the within
the region.
Accordingly, members of the health
assembly was proud to announce that the initial launching positively achieved
its purpose of reducing the waiting time from 4 hours to 25 minutes in the
emergency department of the participating hospitals. The doctors of the Cardiac
Center communicated and coordinated directly with the hospital through a
medical protocol that relies on a mechanism and fully equipped of medical supplies
in all hospital emergencies. Prior to the launching of this initiative the
patients bearing with acute heart attacks will usually took them 6 hours to
reach the hospital. But now by activating of this initiative (QAPAS) and
coordinating with the medical team the patient will arrive at the center
within 90 minutes.
The said gathering also emphasized
the biggest role/part played by PSCCQ who trained 52 medical and technical personnel’s
of the hospital's emergency department. They also taught them how to diagnose
acute heart attacks and define policies to deal with it. Right after this was
launched, a total of 137 patients were able to benefit from the said service.
This will continually be of great help to patients with acute heart
attacks.
Eventually, this will be a major
contributory factor in improving the health services provided to citizens
based on the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the National Transportation Plan of
the Ministry of Health.
