The medical team from the Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Qassim
in collaboration with the Health of Jazan and Prince Mohammed bin Nasser
Hospital under the supervision of the Ministry of Health represented by
the Department of Specialized Centers carried out the plan for settling the Children's Cardiac Program at Prince Mohammed bin Nasser Hospital in Jazan,
where 447 children were served in 15 Visit. The medical team completed 28
open heart surgery and 61 cardiac catheterization cases.
The work of the team included frequent visits every two weeks
with a mobile medical team consisting of Cardiac Surgeon, Pediatric
consultant, anesthesiologist consultant, ICU nurse specialist. The visits
were aimed to trained the medical staff in Jazan and helping to attract and
recruit until the service is fully settled by the end of 2019, God willing.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mesnid, PSCCQ’s Center Director, said that
the impact of the program was clear from the reduction of referrals outside
the region from 54 cases in 2016 to 11 cases in 2019.
Dr.
Abdullah Al-Qwaee, PSCCQ’s Medical Director and Head of Pediatric Cardiology
Department at the Center, said that the following was accomplished during
this period:

opening of 2 beds for cardiac care and full training of the nursing staff

Introducing pediatric cardiac services (clinics, cardiac surgery and
catheterization) at Mohammed bin
Nasser Hospital in Jizan
3. Training
of Respiratory Therapists within 9 months
4. Recruit 3
intensive care specialists
5. Hired Cardiac
Surgeon and Consultant Cardiac Anesthesia
6. Recruit a
pediatric intensive care consultant
7. The joint effort of the Pediatric Interventionist to Children's Cardiac Program
