PSCCQ successfully holds Regional Cardiology Meeting

The Department of Education, Training, and Research of Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Qassim holds Regional Cardiology Meeting regarding the Recent Guidelines in the Management of Dyslipidemia last Friday, 5 of July 2019 at Movenpick Hotel. The course has been approved for (5) CME hours by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. It was 138 medical practitioners in attendance from various hospitals in Qassim.

The activities commenced with the welcome address and introduction by Dr. Rahim Gul, Regional Cardiology Meeting Director. Dr. Rahim Gul also continued by discussing about Lipids Metabolism in which the synthesis and degradation of lipids in cells, involving the breakdown or storage of fats for energy and the synthesis of structural and functional lipids, such as those involved in the construction of cell membranes.

Dr. Tawfeeq Abdullah Al Harbi, a PSCCQ Consultant Cardiologist, discussed the broad case about Definition and Classification of Dyslipidemia. Dyslipidemia, defined as elevated total or low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels, or low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.

PSCCQ Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Osama Smettei explained the Dyslipidemia and CAD. Dyslipidemia is a primary, widely established as an independent major risk factor for coronary artery disease. 

As the program continues another important lecture is the Management of Dyslipidemia according to Recent Guidelines was discussed by Dr. Rahim Gul, PSCCQ Consultant Cardiologist. It is good to have learned the recent guidelines.

Mr. Ahmed Essam Cardiovascular Medical Advisor from Amgen presented detailed information of the Newer Agent for the Management of Dyslipidemia.
