PSCCQ SUCCESSFULLY HOLDS REGIONAL CARDIOLOGY MEETING

The Department of Education, Training, and Research of PSCCQ holds Regional Cardiology Meeting entitled " Update on Heart Failure" held last Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the Golden Tulip Hotel.

The said event was well-participated by almost 200 participants from various hospitals in Qassim Region. It was overwhelming to recognize the presence of the two national guest speakers from other hospitals, Dr. Waleed Al Habeeb and Dr. Mohammad Habbab. This activity was also accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties for six (6) CME hours.

Dr. Tariq Soomro, PSCCQ Consultant Cardiologist, and Medical Director initially opened the event with an introduction and welcome address wherein he warmly acknowledged and welcomed the presence of everyone around.

The first session started with the presentation of the outline of the meeting given by Dr. Rami M. Abazid, PSCCQ Consultant Cardiologist. He clearly gave the framework of the activity.

 Dr. Hassan H.M. Khalaf, Consultant Cardiologist of Hail Cardiac Center clearly elaborated the definition of Heart Failure. He gave a vivid explanation of nature and what Heart Failure is all about.

A lecture on the Role of Cardiac Imaging in Heart Failure was discussed by Dr. Rami Abazid. Cardiac imaging plays a major role in the diagnosis, selection of therapy and assessment of prognosis in patients with heart failure.

Dr. Mehboob Ali Dar, PSCCQ Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist gave a discussion on Device Therapy in Heart Failure. In addition to medical therapy, device therapy also plays an important role in the treatment of Heart Failure patients.

Prince Sultan Cardiac Center Riyadh’s Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Mohammed Habbab shared an Update on Pharmacological Treatment of Heart Failure. 

Furthermore, a lecture on Advanced Heart Failure: Recognizing Treatment Options was intelligibly discussed by Dr. Waleed A. Al Habeeb, Consultant Cardiologist at King Fahad Cardiac Center and likewise the Consultant Heart Failure Cardiologist at King Salman Cardiac Center Riyadh.

The meeting ended up with the distribution of Certificates of Appreciation to the speakers for their selfless contributions in making the event worthy and substantial. Dr. Safa Mohammad, Ms. Noraisha Batabor, Ms. Shaymaa Mahmoud and Nusha El Hawary are also recognized for being part of the Heart Failure Clinic.

Dr. Rami Mahmoud Abazid, Consultant Adult Cardiologist, Course Organizer was delighted and ecstatic with the successful outcome of the activity. Though this was actually a meeting for Cardiac Doctors with sharing of insights and factual ideas on the latest cardiac technology and treatments, Dr. Abazid was glad with the presence of all the participants and he is looking forward to another similar activity in the future.
