PSCCQ launched the 39th Awareness Campaign for the prevention of heart disease last Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Othaim Mall in Buraidah. This is in line with the World Heart Day Celebration inspired by the theme, "Protect Your Heart, Your Life, Young Heart".

It is a known fact that cardiovascular disease is the world's leading cause of non-communicable deaths. This campaign program stressed out that no one should underestimate the global importance of good and healthy heart and this campaign is the best chance to bring people together to tackle the world's biggest and silent killer. It also served as the center's convincing venue in urging the people of Qassim Region to improve their heart's health by making lifestyle changes such as eating more fruits and vegetables, keeping active and stopping one's self from smoking. This simple and healthy kind of living will help save a million of lives.

The Director of Public Relations and Information of Qassim Regional Health Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Al-Belhan, graced the event with his presence together with the center's Deputy Director, Mr. Abdullah Al Fouzan who also gave an overview of the campaign's inclusion. He further stated that the campaign includes workshops for right and complete nutrition which will educate the people to eat the right food in order to prevent heart disease.  The workshop also extends its series by including a lecture on how to fight obesity and persuaded the participants to involve in sports to actively keep them going and anti-smoking lectures. Several medical tests were also conducted embodying blood sugar testing, blood pressure check and an informative learning on cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The program lasted for three hours and was well-attended by more than 350 visitors. According to Ms. Mariam Al Harbi, the Campaign director Out of 350 visitors 160 have participated.  Because of the successful turnout of the event, Mr. Ahmed Al-Belhan highly recommends to continually establish this campaign because of the beneficial impact and influence it carries as it promotes public health awareness in all the sectors of the society. Hopefully, this activity will continue to create a significant force and impact in raising awareness to educate and inform people regarding the preventive measures not only on heart diseases but all the other diseases as well.

The program did not only focused on lectures and workshops, it also comprised the lighter and brighter side wherein they administered a drawing contest to change the stressful atmosphere. The parents who brought along their children joined the activity and everyone had a great, great fun.

PSCCQ handed over a Plaque of Appreciation to the Director of Al Othaim Mall to duly recognize their resolute and unhesitant permission in allowing the PSCCQ organizers to hold the event at their vicinity.
